Land rights agreements take place in areas of Canada where Aboriginal land rights have not been addressed by previous treaties or other legal means. In the Yukon, a number of modern contracts of the future, also known as final agreements, were negotiated to settle these land claims. The umbrella final agreement (UFA) was concluded in 1988 and was completed in 1990. This is the general “roof” agreement of the Yukon Country Claims Package and provides for the general agreement reached by the three parties in a number of areas.
